Photography competition: Public Favorite Winner of March entries!

A huge thanks for the great response to our Amateur Photography Competition.  We are proud to announce this months winner of the “Public Favorite” – as voted by you on Facebook!

  • Full name: (Mr) Elmar Retief Venter
  • Title of the photograph: Splash
  • The exact location of the photograph: Biyamiti Weir in the Kruger National Park
  • The date the photograph was taken: 3 December 2014
  • Brief scene description: I parked my vehicle on the low level bridge at the Biyamiti Weir in the Kruger National Park hoping for some action shots of the resident hippo. He was quite lazy, but finally made a nice splash and gave me a huge fright.
  • Common name of the main species in the photograph: Hippopatamus
  • The photograph’s exposure settings, and camera and lens used: Canon EOS 5Diii, Canon 500mm lens, f7.1, 1/1250s, iso320
