Photo of Blue Waxbill – Experiencing tailwinds?

Posted on Fri October 30, 2015.

In life, as in Nature, you will sometimes experience tailwinds and sometimes move against the current.  Knowing when to choose which, might probably be the most important question.

This beautiful image of a blue waxbill (gewone blousysie) was recently taken from the sunken bird hide by our guest Thys Lombard.  Thys has been enjoying this hobby of his since 2002, and played an important part in conceptualising the sunken hides at Indlovu.

“I have been very blessed over the years to photograph great events and meet great people in the process.  I have had the privilege to summit Mount Kilimandjaro with the likes of Francois Pienaar, Hennie le Roux, Johan Styger and Scott Gibbs and photograph the Springbok flag on top of the highest mountain in Africa.”

Whether he is going against the current trying to summit a mountain, or riding the tailwinds when a sunken hide provides ample photographic opportunities, Thys enjoys capturing the moment like any other photographer.
